Quick answer: To add 10% VAT, multiply the price by 1.1. To find the VAT inside a total, divide the total by 1.1 and subtract the result from the total.
How it's calculated
Add VAT: multiply the price before VAT by the rate. At 10%, VAT = net × 0.1 and the total = net + VAT.
Remove VAT: divide the VAT-inclusive total by 1.1 to get the net price; the VAT is the difference.
Rounding: the BHD has 3 decimal places (1 dinar = 1,000 fils). The calculator works in whole fils, rounds the VAT half up and derives the other amount, so net + VAT always equals the total exactly.
Worked examples
- Add VAT to 1,000 BHD: 1,000.000 × 10% = 100.000 → 1,100.000
- VAT inside 1,000 BHD: 1,000.000 − 1,000.000 ÷ 1.1 = 90.909
